Switching to Unit Trac

Switching is the easy part.

Bring your units, tenants, leases and balances over from your current software or a spreadsheet. Our team will even build your map.

  • No setup fee
  • No contract
  • Real people help

Illustration: a spreadsheet, a pencil sketch and a tenants file on the left send orange dots along a dashed route, and each dot fills in a green unit tile on a Unit Trac map.

You are not locked in. You are dreading the move.

When owners decide to switch self-storage software, the decision is rarely the hard part. Here is what the move actually looks like.

“I will have to retype everything.”

You upload it. Two spreadsheets: one of your units, one of your tenants.

“I will lose track of who has paid.”

Paid-through dates and starting balances come with each tenant.

“I will have to draw my whole facility again.”

Send us a sketch or a photo and we will build your map for you, at no charge.

My Migration

Four steps. It remembers where you stopped.

The migration checklist walks you through the move one step at a time. Do one tonight and the next one Saturday. It will be waiting.

Where it comes from

A spreadsheet is enough.

We have imports built for specific products, and a flexible one that works for everyone else.

Purpose-built import

From Storable Easy

Export two reports, the Unit List and the Full Tenant Data report, and upload them exactly as they are. No retyping and no reformatting.

Flexible import

From anything else

Fill in two Excel templates: one row for each unit, one row for each lease. If your current software can export to a spreadsheet, you are most of the way there.

Review

Nothing goes in until you have looked at it.

Every upload ends on a review screen: what will be created, what will be skipped because it is already there, and anything that needs a closer look.

Fix the file and upload it again. Unit Trac skips what is already in and brings in only what is new.

The map

The part you expected to take longest.

A map of your facility, colored by who has paid, is what owners love most about Unit Trac. Getting yours does not have to take an afternoon.

Our team builds it for you.

Send us whatever you have: a sketch, an aerial photo, your old map, or just a description. A Unit Trac specialist builds the whole map, matches it to your units, and emails you when it is ready, usually within two business days. Real people, no charge.

Illustration: an owner sends a photo of their wall map to the Unit Trac team, and a reply arrives saying the map is ready, with a small finished map.

Your old map, drafted in seconds.

Upload a screenshot of your old map, a photo or a sketch. Text recognition reads every unit number, AI finds your buildings and rows, and our own fitting algorithm lines them up with your unit list.

Most maps come out right on the first try. Tidy up anything it missed.

  • Text recognition reads the labels
  • AI finds buildings and rows
  • Unit Trac's algorithm fits every unit

Animation: a screenshot of an old facility map is scanned, its unit labels are read, its buildings and rows are detected, and it turns into a clean Unit Trac map of 120 units colored by status.

Or lay it out yourself.

Open the map editor and drag in buildings, rows and units. Units snap into line as you place them.

Animation: a unit tile is dragged toward a row of four tiles, an alignment guide appears, and the tile snaps into place.

Day two

Then tell your tenants.

Invite everyone to the customer portal at once.

They add a card, turn on autopay and pay online from then on.

Customer Portal

Send one message to everybody.

A ready-made announcement tells tenants where to pay now. It goes by text or email, whichever each tenant prefers.

Texting & Email

Saved cards can follow.

Moving the cards your tenants already have on file is a separate step, outside the import. You ask your current vendor to authorize the transfer, and we give you the instructions.

Stuck on a step? Ask.

Someone on our team in Morton, Illinois will help you through it. We run a storage facility too.

“Thank you so much for your help. I never thought I could switch software in one day.”

Questions

Your units, sizes and prices. Your tenants and their contact details. Their leases, with start date, rent, paid-through date and deposit. And each tenant's starting balance, if you want it.

Past payment history is not imported, and neither are documents, photos or gate codes. Paid-through dates and starting balances make sure every account begins right.

They are not part of the import, but they do not have to stay behind. Moving them is a separate step: you ask your current vendor to authorize the transfer, and we give you the instructions. Tenants can also add a card themselves in the customer portal.

Yes. The flexible import works from two spreadsheets, so if your current software can export to a spreadsheet, you can bring it over.

No. The checklist remembers where you stopped, and you can move one facility at a time.

Unit Trac skips what is already there and adds only what is new.

You, Unit Trac from your photos, or our team. If our team builds it, it is usually ready within two business days and there is no charge.

Nothing. There is no setup fee, and you pay $0.70 per unit per month once you are running, with a $30 monthly minimum.

Sign up and tell us you are switching. Our team opens the migration checklist for your account, and it shows up in Unit Trac from then on.

Pick a day. We will help you move.
