Transfer a Customer to a New Unit


 

Customers' needs change and it's easy to accommodate them as they move from one unit to another, retaining their information.  There are two ways to do this:

Option 1

- Find and click on the customer name in the My Customers list

- On the right side of the screen, under Customer Leases, click the unit number the customer is vacating.  This will bring up that specific lease.

- The middle column is the Lease information; click on the blue "Edit" button

- Find the Unit drop down menu and choose the new unit the customer is moving into.  Be sure to check the rental rate; it will automatically populate with your business' standard rental rate for the new unit size.  If you have adjusted rent for that customer, now is the time to make sure it is correct.

- Go to the Customer's Invoicing & Payments tab to issue a refund or add a balance adjustment.

Tip: We also recommend that you record a note indicating the customer transferred from one unit to another.

 

Option 2

- End the current lease and begin a brand new one.

 

Keep in mind the legal paper trail. Customers can sign a new lease as they move from unit to unit, or you can use our eLease function to have them re-sign the lease for any reason.
